Apart from offices, fixed and flexible desks, coffee and meeting facilities, we offer proximity and connections to the University of Iceland, other entrepreneurs and leading companies in the knowledge sector. This makes for an energetic community of thinkers and doers.

Life in Mýrin

In Mýrin, our Innovation Centre, start-ups and entrepreneurs work year round transforming their ideas into real-world projects.

“It’s an entrepreneurial community. It’s fast and very future-focused. I’m always meeting new people,” says Atli Þór Jóhannsson from Pikkoló. They run refrigerated pick-up centres around the city, where people can retrieve fresh produce and foods.

Safa Jemai chimes in: “I’m a programmer. Next to me there’s a salesperson and over there is a photographer. And we’re all joined here. That’s what I love about working at the Science Park.” Safa has started up a number of very different, exciting projects including herbs and spice label Mabrúka and the software development initiative Víkonnekt.

The people of Mýrin agree that having Klak - Icelandic Startups, Auðna - Technology Transfer Office, Georg - Geothermal Research Cluster and the Centre for Icelandic Design and Architecture on premises is a major asset. Likewise, having larger businesses upstairs and in the neighbouring buildings, along with the research infrastructure of the university, is important. “The Science Park and Innovation Centre are sort of like a connection hub for the entrepreneur society at large,” says Ásta Sóllilja Guðmundsdóttir, CEO of Klak.

Most important, though, is having each other, says Anna Björk Theodórsdóttir, founder of data analysis company Oceans of Data. “It’s priceless to have the support of other entrepreneurs; people on the same journey as yourself.”
